Update from Maitland Pres Preschool

The following letter was sent from preschool director, Susie Stull, to the preschool on

May 22, 2024:

Hi MPP Families,

We wanted to provide an update to a recent matter which happened at the  preschool on Tuesday. Some of our families may have heard that on Monday, an allegation was made by a parent about their child’s treatment while at our preschool.  It is our policy and obligation to take any and all such claims seriously and to act promptly and unbiasedly to ensure the safety and well-being of all of our students and staff.

After speaking with the pastors, we self-reported the incident to the Department of Children and Families and the Maitland Police Department for review of the allegation to determine if a formal investigation was needed. While DCF & Maitland Police reviewed the allegation and video, we placed our 2’s class teachers on temporary leave until we heard back from the authorities. This was done as protocol.

Both agencies reviewed the information yesterday and have concluded that there was no wrongdoing and no need to open a formal investigation. They determined that the teachers were acting in the best interest of all the children in their classroom and used all the appropriate methods to maintain a structured and safe learning environment. No case was opened and therefore there is no case to be closed, however we do want to make sure that within our school community, everyone knows there was absolutely no wrong-doing by our teachers.

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the two teachers, Ms. Savannah and Ms. Alyssa, who fully cooperated with the investigation. Their professionalism and dedication to our students is commendable, and I want to openly acknowledge their commitment to our school families and each and every child at our preschool. They will be back in the classroom tomorrow morning for our last day of school.

I further want to express my gratitude for the many parents and teachers who offered their input and support for both the situation in question and our wonderful teachers. We believe everyone acted in the best interest of the students, teachers and the school, and for that we’re grateful and we include you all as part of our wonderful school family.

We wish you all a happy and safe summer and look forward to seeing many of you in summer camp!
