Help Us Speak Out

Today, we have hardly been able to look away from our screens as we watched as thousands of our brothers and sisters protest and call for justice and change in our society. If like us, you long to show your support, here's something you can do.  The following scriptures show God's desire for justice and equality. Pick one, make a sign, and plant it in the church's yard that faces 17-92. While on the church campus, maintain social distancing and wear a mask. The only words that can speak for all of us are from God's word, so please choose from the list below.
  • He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? -Micah 6:8

  • If you show prejudice, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. -James 2:9

  • Love your neighbor as yourself -Matthew 22:39

  • Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. -Amos 5:24

  • We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. -1 John 3:16

  • He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. -Luke 1:52-53

  • I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. -John 13:34

  • There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. -Galatians 3:28

  • For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. -Ephesians 2:14

  • After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. -Revelation 7:9

  • But whoever hates a brother or sister is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness. -1 John 2:11

  • We love because he first loved us. Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. -1 John 4:19-21

  • For the wrongdoer will be paid back for whatever wrong has been done, and there is no partiality. -Colossians 3:25

  • Thus says the Lord: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; but let those who boast, boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the Lord; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord. -Jeremiah 9-23-24

  • Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. -Philippians 2:3-4
